Electric Car Anxiety

So as it gets nearer to our trip I’m naturally getting a bit nervous about certain things:
RANGE ANXIETY
The other day our car got down to 30 miles left and I started getting worried. The warning light had been on a while and my husband said ‘wow if you’re getting range anxiety now we’re going to have to do lots of careful planning when we drive in an electric car’.
THE SIZE OF THE BOOT
The i3 is a great family sized car but its boot doesn’t look too big – I read somewhere that it’s about the same size as as Fiesta – eek – we have been spoilt with an S-Max boot!. I’ve decided that I’m going to have to:
- Stop off somewhere which has a washing machine part way round – maybe an Air B&B (probably around the Eden Project seeing as they have chargers)
- Pack stuff under the kids’ legs
- Use bags not suitcases
- Pack light (hard when there are 4 of us!)
GETTING LOST
We aren’t the best at navigating – so we are bound to get lost – I’m hoping the i3’s integrated Sat Nav is a good one! If we do get lost, let’s hope we aren’t low on mileage!
THE WEATHER
It suddenly occurred to me the other day that a lot of what we have planned it outside. So I am going to have to pack for all weather – including the rain. Which means waterproofs – what shoes are best for rain in the summer though? Maybe some kind of trainers? Flipflops give me blisters when my feet get wet!
THE AMOUNT OF TIME SPENT IN THE CAR
I have ibs so am not overly keen on long journeys -I have tried to plan it so most of our driving isn’t in the morning when I often feel ill. However, what about the kids? I’m going to be letting them take their Fire HD 8 Kids Tablets and books but with not much space, I’m on the lookout for other things to take to amuse them. If all goes to plan we will be covering about 1100 miles.
